Jameson Earns His AKC Junior Hunter Title!

Note: This article ran Nov. 22, 2018 in the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star newspaper.

My nearly two-year-old Boykin spaniel Jameson is now, officially, a canine with a title. Yes, he is forever enshrined in the AKC record books as a “Junior Hunter.”

I’ve always called him by another title, “Sir Marks-a-Lot,” due to his propensity to pee anywhere he smells another dog, just letting them know he...

I know everyone must be wondering how my Boykin boy Jameson is coming along with his retriever training. He still needs work, but he's getting there - at his own pace. Neil Selby at Shady Grove Kennels will likely "run" him in his AKC junior hunting trials in September and early October. The boy will look good with that AKC "sheepskin" and we aim to have it for him by the end of October.

Here's a two-minute video of him yesterday.

Jamey is coming along in his retrieving skills. We hope he passes his AKC Junior Hunter Tests in September and October 2018.  Here are some retrieves from August 2018.

My recent doggie friends are more like grandkids. I can love on them, pat them, secretly feed them table scraps and then leave when I choose. That flexibility will soon disappear.
